Another One Bites the Dust!

Ladies, ladies, ladies!!! Yesterday while at work, I'm working minding my business when all of a sudden out of no where I hear this faint snap, I'm like ok what was that!?!? Not even five minutes later my right boob is being pinched ridiculously. My underwire in my bra decided to break under pressure!! Please tell me that there are some ladies out there that have experienced this very same thing!! I ended up having to run quickly to restroom to remove the broken wire.

I don't know how many bras I've gone through in just a year's time, I mean underwire breaking, straps snapping, tearing, clasps bending, I mean the list can go on!! Even on to wearing the wrong size bra, raise your hand if you are guilty of this one (*both of my hands are raised*)!

Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is so totally one of the charities I always support with donations, sponsorship, and or walks, today's post is dedicated to.... Drum roll please..... Ba da ba do boom! You guessed it, Your Tatas!!!

So for those of you, me included, who need a lil help finding what your bra size is, you can go into your local department store to be fitted by a specialist. You can also go to a maternity store like Motherhood Maternity (I loved this store when I was pregnant, great clothes that I wore well after I gave birth!) and have one of the reps to measure you. If you always seem to forget to ask or don't always have time to be fitted while shopping you can do it at home. You can follow this link to Victoria's Secret to figure out your bra size. You just have to plug in your band size and cup size, and it gives you your bra size so you will need a tape measure to do this of course.

Another thing that we all need to stay on top of is Self Examinations! I'm also guilty of not keeping up on this. It is very important to perform these self exams regularly as this is an important way of detecting breast cancer early on and at a time when if found it can be treated successfully. Below you will find 5 easy steps for performing your self exam:

Step 1: Begin by looking at your breasts in the mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips.
Here's what you should look for:
  • Breasts that are their usual size, shape, and color
  • Breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distortion or swelling
If you see any of the following changes, bring them to your doctor's attention:
  • Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin
  • A nipple that has changed position or an inverted nipple (pushed inward instead of sticking out)
  • Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling
Step 2: Now, raise your arms and look for the same changes.
Step 3: While you're at the mirror, look for any signs of fluid coming out of one or both nipples (this could be a watery, milky, or yellow fluid or blood).
Step 4: Next, feel your breasts while lying down, using your right hand to feel your left breast and then your left hand to feel your right breast. Use a firm, smooth touch with the first few finger pads of your hand, keeping the fingers flat and together. Use a circular motion, about the size of a quarter.
Cover the entire breast from top to bottom, side to side — from your collarbone to the top of your abdomen, and from your armpit to your cleavage.
Follow a pattern to be sure that you cover the whole breast. You can begin at the nipple, moving in larger and larger circles until you reach the outer edge of the breast. You can also move your fingers up and down vertically, in rows, as if you were mowing a lawn. This up-and-down approach seems to work best for most women. Be sure to feel all the tissue from the front to the back of your breasts: for the skin and tissue just beneath, use light pressure; use medium pressure for tissue in the middle of your breasts; use firm pressure for the deep tissue in the back. When you've reached the deep tissue, you should be able to feel down to your ribcage.
Step 5: Finally, feel your breasts while you are standing or sitting. Many women find that the easiest way to feel their breasts is when their skin is wet and slippery, so they like to do this step in the shower. Cover your entire breast, using the same hand movements described in step 4.

So, we have some homework to do ladies! If you don't know your correct bra size find out! Wearing the right fitting bra helps with posture and also confidence so lets get those boobies aligned right! And while in the shower tonight start you self breast exam and finish up before putting on your pjs. We only get two breasts ladies and its our job to take care of them and what better time to start this healthy habit than during Breast Cancer Awareness Month! To my audience of men, please tell the women in your life to stay on top of this very important issue.

I know what my homework is in addition to these two, go purchase me a new bra! I can't walk around with lopsided boobs for too long!

Until next time!
